Jill Tracy from the new music video project with Jeremy Carr

UPDATE: 7/22/13— Since this original post, Jill Tracy Kickstarter Campaign has launched and will be taking donations for this project for 30 days. Visit the Campaign Page HERE.

I can’t tell you how honored I am to work again with brilliant filmmaker Jeremy Carr, plus bring to life one of the favorite songs I have ever written. And for the first time, YOU can be an actual part of the process! We will be launching my debut Kickstarter campaign soon, so you will be able to participate, see sneak previews, snag rewards, and help us manifest this dark gem!

You may recall a few years ago, my adventures as the sinister seductress Mona in Jeremy’s surreal thriller Ice Cream Ants— (alongside Marcus Ashley (Laurel Canyon, Bones, CSI) and the legendary Tom Noonan (Heat, Last Action Hero, House of the Devil.)
Watch the original Ice Cream Ants trailer HERE.

After winning several film festival awards, grand prizes and accolades, Ice Cream Ants is slated to be released to the public for the first time with a new director’s cut this fall!
“Pulling Your Insides Out“ is the end title song to the film, so Jeremy thought it befitting to create a new music video to coincide with its online release.

“Pulling Your Insides Out” has always been my favorite song on my album Diabolical Streak. In fact, that album has been getting quite the resurgence lately as Showtime Networks chose the track “Evil Night Together” as the campaign song promoting the wildly anticipated final season of Dexter.
I am “Dexter’s Final Symphony!“
So as they say— “everything old is new again.” It’s been thrilling for me to re-inhabit “Pulling Your Insides Out” and (with your kindness) unveil the beautifully eerie video it always deserved. This video has been shot (on location in New York City,) so this campaign is to enable Jeremy to edit, complete all post-production and digital transfer necessary.

“The Final Symphony:” Jill Tracy becomes Dexter’s Demonic Requiem:

Dexter_New_Poster_5_3_13

In a few days, The End Begins. I guess it can now officially be added to the Jill Tracy resume:  Created Dexter’s Final Bloody Requiem. Immortalized.

When Showtime Networks first emailed me about my song “Evil Night Together,” they were entertaining the thought of it becoming Dexter’s Final Symphony, promoting the hit series’ wildly anticipated final episodes…they said they thought my work could highlight the darkest, bloodiest, most alluring moments of the last seven seasons. Yes, I said, absolutely! I could not think of anything more perfect. I told no one. One mustn’t jinx these things.

I did not hear from Showtime again for months, I half-heartedly had given up on the prospect, but was still secretly wishing. (I still told no one.) Over the years, of any show on TV (and I don’t even own a TV) I always thought Dexter would be the perfect fit for my work. And obviously so did Showtime, as I suddenly got an email saying they were excited to move forward with — “The Final Symphony.”

For those of you familiar with my music, it’s an older song of mine— circa 1999. But all of a sudden, it’s been resuscitated, resurrected like a magical monster. As I see the brilliant, spine-tingling  job they did with the Dexter trailer, I have such newfound, fresh eyes and ears for “Evil Night Together.” I’m damn proud of my great old song.  As they say, “everything old is new again.”

Most of all, it makes me appreciate that the music I create is timeless. How many albums from 1999 could be hyped now and still sound completely singular, distinctive and fresh? I always strive to manifest work that is not a prisoner of time or trends, but that exists on its own.  Music, aesthetic, that is authentically— severely ME. When this happened with Showtime, I was proud that I had achieved that yet again with my work—on the grandest scale thus far. It’s been amazing to hear from so many new fans discovering my music from Dexter. And it’s been so inspiring to tap into that energy as I compose new music.

I am thankful for all of you who have supported and enjoyed my work over the years.  And I welcome all the new malcontents into the elegant netherworld. You’re my flame, and for that I am eternally grateful.

From the press release:

“Nobody does DARK like Jill Tracy” —TV Tropes

“An ominous and beautiful requiem theme accompanying the new trailer for Showtime’s final season of Dexter…“Evil Night Together” by dark music virtuoso Jill Tracy, a FEARnet favorite.” – Gregory Burkart, FEARnet

“You’ve been seeing the sultry and bloody Showtime campaign “The Final Symphony“ promoting the wildly anticipated final season of smash hit Dexter, but who is the sultry woman behind the music?
Shhh…It’s none other than San Francisco’s own mysterious chanteuse Jill Tracy being immortalized as the voice of Dexter’s Final Requiem.

Hailed “A femme fatale for the thinking man” by SF Chronicle, and “cult darling of the Underworld” by LA Weekly, Showtime Networks sought out Jill Tracy after hearing her provocative jazz noir track “Evil Night Together” and proposed the tune become the banner song for Dexter’s Season 8 trailer.  The teaser, which first aired a mere few weeks ago, already has half a million views on YouTube.

“A final bloody symphony… set against Jill Tracy’s moody ‘Evil Night Together,’ the trailer recaps the darkest moments of the series’ past seven seasons, culminating with the shocking murder of LaGuerta (Lauren Vélez) – a murder that could very well be Dexter’s undoing, even though his sister was the one who pulled the trigger,” describes the official Showtime press release.   The ad, which airs through early July, is aptly titled “The Final Symphony,” and features a montage from the series’ past seven seasons to the soundtrack of Tracy’s chilling music.

“It’s like I’m conducting a final symphony,” Dexter (Michael C. Hall) says, “Requiem for Demonic Dexter.”

“Evil Night Together” is from my album Diabolical Streak, which has become a cult classic in certain circles. With gems like The Fine Art of Poisoning, Just the Other Side of Pain, Doomsday Serenade, You Leave Me Cold— Please check out Diabolical Streak in its entirely HERE.

And speaking of “everything old being new again”—My favorite track from Diabolical Streak, the mystical groove “Pulling Your Insides Out,” was chosen as the end title to Jeremy Carr’s surreal thriller Ice Cream Ants (which I also star in as the strange seductress Mona.) The short film is getting its public release with a new director’s cut later this year and we are currently finishing a brand new music video to accompany its release for “Pulling Your Insides Out.” I’m so excited for this project— you’ll be hearing and seeing more of this song and the film in the coming months!  Ahhh, timelessness!

This classic cover shot for Diabolical Streak was created by Brian James. I was a platinum blonde then. More specifically–pearl violet. But still trapped within the dark wondrous, tortured soul of a deep brunette.  Now, there’s a requiem.
